Concussion Lands Furrey On Injured Reserve
Detroit Lions placed WR Mike Furrey (concussion) on injured reserve, ending his season. After ripping off 98 grabs for Mike Martz in 2006, Furrey’s catch totals have steadily dropped from 68 in 2007 to just 18 this season. While Furrey would be worth the $1.85 million salary he’s due in 2009, a new Lions coaching staff may want to go in another direction.
Jackson Denies Claim That He Has ‘Gassed’
St Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson denied coach Jim Haslett’s post-game claim that “he was gassed” in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins. “No, I wasn’t gassed,” said Jackson. “I had 21 carries and felt great. So, it wasn’t me and my conditioning. I wish (Haslett) would stop saying that.” S-Jax went on to say that it was “definitely frustrating” to be pulled in the fourth quarter of a close game and that he didn’t understand the move.
Burress Turns Himself In To NYC Authorities
New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress turned himself in to New York City police early Monday morning. Burress reportedly walked ably and without crutches as he made his way inside the station. He did not acknowledge members of the media, nor did he respond to a shout of “Plaxico!” Burress is expected to plead not guilty to charges of criminal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment, both felonies.
Bears NT Dvoracek Likely Lost For The Season
Bears coach Lovie Smith described NT Dusty Dvoracek’s arm injury as “serious” in his post-game press conference Sunday. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Dvoracek is “likely” lost for the season.
Report: Torry Holt Begged Out Of Game
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, there was talk on the sidelines of Torry Holt “begging out” of Sunday’s Dolphins-Rams game. Of course the Miami media has this situation better covered than the St. Louis rags. It’s uncertain why Holt was begging out, but he played without any passion despite being the Rams’ most oft-targeted receiver.

Burress Update
Updating a previous item, John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring, leg) suffered an accidental gunshot wound late Friday, Nov. 28, in a club, according to multiple sources. Details of the incident weren’t immediately available, but according to a source the wound was not considered life-threatening. The Giants organization was not commenting on the story.
Burress Accidentally Shoots Self In Leg
Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring) accidentally shot himself in the leg Friday, Nov. 28. Burress spent the night in the hospital and the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The team is still trying to gather further information on the incident.
Fletcher Game-Time Decision For Week 13
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins LB London Fletcher (foot) will be a game-time decision for Week 13. “It’s still up in the air,” Fletcher said. “I’m hopeful that I can play, but right now I couldn’t say definitively. … I’ve had injuries in the past, but I’ve just had to suck it up and deal with it. This one is a different type of injury than I’ve had before.” Fletcher has not missed a game in his 11-year NFL career, a streak of 171 games, including 130 starts.

DeMarcus Ware Leaves After Three Sacks
Dallas Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware left Thursday’s game in the third quarter with an apparent right knee injury after he recorded three sacks. He won’t return. He was walking, joking, and did post-game interviews, so the injury doesn’t appear too serious. Ware took the NFL lead with 15 sacks on the season, beating Walter Jones twice and Sean Locklear with an impressive array of moves.

Taylor Growing Frustrated Over Role In Offense
Cole Pepper, of WOKV.com, reports Jacksonville Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is not happy with his diminishing role within the team’s offense and his frustration has nearly reached the boiling point. “I’m just about at that point, but I have to be a professional. I’ve never been a prima donna,” Taylor said. “It seems as if they’re trying to clear some space. I’m getting older and not getting the same kind of touches or even playing time. It’s not a secret, you can kind of see it going that way.” Taylor added that he will play football next season, although he is not sure if it will be in Jacksonville.
Green Could Miss Time

Owens Frustrated With Team’s Offense
ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys WR Terrell Owens said in an interview that aired on the NFL Network Thursday, Nov. 20, he is frustrated by his numbers and the team’s offense this season. According to Owens, if the Cowboys’ goal is to get to the Super Bowl, the team “can’t obtain that championship if I’m not involved in the offense.” Owens added Friday, Nov. 21, that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett’s plan is not flexible, and defenses have caught on to his schemes and how to stop Owens. Head coach Wade Phillips said he did not entirely disagree with Owens’ comments. “In some cases they are true. I’d say us getting him the football is the most important thing because, again, he’s a great player, and we’ve got to get him the ball. And if he’s not getting the ball enough, then it goes back to us.”
Past PFC Radio Guest Ray Edwards Fined $25,000
Chip Scoggins, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings DL Ray Edwards has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for two plays considered unnecessary roughness in Week 11, according to a league spokesman. “In the first quarter, he leg whipped an opponent. In the second quarter, he unnecessarily struck the opposing quarterback late,” the spokesman wrote in an email. Edwards received a roughing-the-passer penalty after hitting Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jeff Garcia well after he released the ball on an incomplete pass.
A. Jones Can Join Team Monday
The Associated Press reports Dallas Cowboys suspended CB Adam Jones can join the team Monday, Nov. 24, and that he can play again Dec. 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers if he stays on his best behavior. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement Friday, Nov. 21, confirming the details of Jones’ return, noting that it can only happen “if he avoids any further incidents and fully complies with each and every condition that has been established for him.” It is believed that he must keep up with the aftercare of the alcohol rehabilitation program he underwent since being suspended Oct. 14.
Goodell Fears Economic Bite May Hit League In 2009
The Associated Press reports NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fears the economic downturn could hit the NFL in early 2009 when tickets for next season go on sale. Goodell said, “There’s no secret on sponsorship, advertising, licensing — those numbers are going to be impacted by the current climate. We’re aware of that. We’re still, unfortunately, in the beginning stages of this. And most of our tickets are sold in the spring. And so ‘09 is going to be more of a barometer of how impactful the economic environment’s going to be on the NFL.”
Beason Fined $5,000
The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers LB Jon Beason has been fined $5,000 for grabbing Detroit Lions QB Daunte Culpepper by the facemask in Week 11. A league spokesman said Beason was fined for unnecessary roughness.
Ainge Suspended For Four Games
The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Erik Ainge has been suspended for four games for violating the league’s policy on steroids and related substances. Ainge will be allowed to rejoin the team Dec. 15.
J. Jones Questionable For Week 12
Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) was held out of most of the team’s practice Friday, Nov. 21, and he is listed as questionable for Week 12. Jones aggravated the injury in last week’s game and during practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Ocho Cinco Deactivated For Game
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco will be deactivated for tonight’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers for violating a team rule, the Bengals have announced today. The Bengals did not provide details and indicated they would have no further comment until after the game. The league-owned NFL Network, which is carrying tonight’s Bengals-Steelers game from Pittsburgh, reports that Johnson got into a dispute with a member of the Bengals organization Wednesday night and left a team function.
Quinn Has Fractured Finger
The Cleveland Browns have announced that quarterback Brady Quinn has a small fracture of the index finger on his throwing hand but still is expected to play this weekend. Quinn was cleared to play by a hand specialist, Browns Coach Romeo Crennel said at a news conference. The fracture in Quinn’s right index finger was discovered when he underwent an X-ray Wednesday after complaining of soreness, according to the team. The second-year pro has started the Browns’ last two games, including Monday night’s triumph over the Buffalo Bills, after Crennel benched Derek Anderson in favor of the former first-round draft choice.

PFC Titans Writer: Dan Johns
Ten up and ten down; the Titans have defeated every opponent the league has thrown their way in 2008 and have no signs of slowing down. However, from what you hear, the players and their head coach Jeff Fisher don’t seem to be thinking all that much about perfection. Their top goals? To win the AFC South (which seems all but locked-up) that’s now accomplished but a further goal which they now to look to concur would be to earn the AFC’s number 1 seed come post-season, thus having guaranteed two home games in Nashville come January. Which then only leaves one more goal to set forth after that – winning the Super Bowl.
